Otava Learning strives to ensure the accessibility of its digital services in accordance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019.
New services and content published after 23 September 2020 comply with the accessibility criteria. Products may include non-accessible content but it is clearly marked.
The current user interface of Cloubi products (digital books, digital exercises, etc.) will be improved in 2024. We also strive to improve the accessibility of existing older services during the academic year 2024–2025 and the accessibility of mobile applications (Otso, Särmä Plus and Sanastot) in 2024.
Our aim is to ensure that everyone has equal access to Otava’s digital learning materials.
This accessibility statement covers all digital products of Otava and Finn Lectura, including Cloubi products from an external supplier.
The services are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA. Non-compliance and exceptions to the requirements are explained below.
The content listed below is not accessible. Read a more detailed breakdown of the non-accessible content (in Finnish).
The following accessibility criteria are not met in all of Otava’s and Finn Lectura’s products and services:
An effort will be made to rectify the shortcomings in connection with product updates in 2022.
We will add subtitles to the videos of digital products in use in spring 2022. Some of the content can be found in an accessible format on the same page as the embedded video.
Digital products published before September 2020 do not have alternative text. Adding them would be an unreasonable burden for the organisation’s resources. For products published after September 2020, graphs used in mathematical subjects are an exception, as they cannot be improved due to the nature of the subject.
Mathematics books for lower secondary school and general upper secondary school do not have an audio track. Adding them would be an unreasonable burden for the organisation’s resources.
Our aim is to improve the user interfaces of Otava Learning mobile applications (Otso, Särmä Plus and Sanastot) in 2024. The applications offer additional material that is available in a printed book, Pupil’s World, or Student’s World.
The contents of Otava’s digital books, digital exercises and digital teaching materials are mostly available in printed format. The content of the mobile applications is additional material. Our customer service will help you find the right product. Some of our products are also available via Celia (celia.fi).
