The Vertex series supports teachers and inspires students

Vertex is an inspiring series of learning materials for studying mathematics in upper secondary school. Theis series brings mathematics close to the student’s everyday life. The theory and exercises are designed to give every student experiences of success and the right level of challenges.

This popular series is widely used in Finnish upper secondary schools, and is now being published also in English.

Every student can experience success

  • The theory is presented in a clear and understandable way. 
  • Differentiation and self-evaluation are supported with learning objectives, content with different levels of challenge and the self-assessment tool that comes with the digital book. The students can use the self-assessment pages to monitor how well they have achieved the learning objectives. 
  •  Using the Analytics Service, the teacher can monitor and assess the work of a single student or the entire group. Students can also monitor their progress and skills using analytics. 

Building digital skills

  • The student’s digital skills improve continuously alongside their mathematics skills. Logos have been used to add recommendations to examples and exercises if the use of programs should be limited to certain types of programs or when it is better to start by acquiring basic skills without using programs. 
  • Students learn to use the programs by starting with the basics, and instructional videos also facilitate the teacher’s everyday work. The digital book allows use of the same formula editor as in the Finnish matriculation exam.
